Sir Patrick Stewart died on October 28, 2026, at his home in Los Angeles, aged 86. The announcement shared on his @SirPatStew account described his passing after a brief illness involving Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, a time of isolation and uncertainty, Stewart shared videos of his readings under the hashtag #ASonnetADay. They were simple: his voice, Shakespeare's words, and a few minutes to listen.
I enjoyed those readings so much I built a small project around them that collected the sonnet tweets including links and made a page where other fans could find them.
Today, those links feel like the most meaningful part of the project: a way to return to his voice and the poetry he shared with us.

Technical notes
The project retrieved tweets through the Twitter API, now the X API, and used the JSON data in a Plotly.js chart showing likes and retweets. A chronological table linked to each tweet so visitors could find and watch the readings.
